Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-06-11

These terms govern access to and use of IOSS vs OSS Decision Tool (https://ioss.shipcostlab.com), a free informational tool ("the Tool") operated by José Manuel Volante González. Provider identification and contact details are published in the legal notice.

1. Nature of the service

The Tool is provided free of charge, without registration, accounts, or subscriptions. It produces indicative determinations of which EU VAT scheme (IOSS, Union OSS, non-Union OSS, or local registration) may apply to a cross-border B2C sale, based on the EU VAT e-commerce package (Directive 2006/112/EC as amended by Directive (EU) 2017/2455) and a versioned reference dataset.

2. No professional advice

Outputs are orientative and do not constitute tax, legal, or financial advice. VAT obligations depend on facts the Tool cannot verify. Always confirm decisions with a qualified tax advisor or the competent tax authority before acting.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Tool lawfully and not to attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer for malicious purposes, scrape abusively, or circumvent security controls of the site or its hosting infrastructure.

4. Intellectual property

Text, determination logic, datasets, and design are protected by intellectual property rights. Personal, non-commercial use with attribution is permitted. For commercial licensing, contact the email address published in the legal notice.

5. Availability and changes

The Tool is provided "as is" and "as available", with no uptime commitment. Features, datasets, and these terms may change; the version in force is the one published at this URL with the date above.

6. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the provider accepts no liability for decisions based solely on the Tool's outputs, nor for indirect or consequential damages. Reference data may become outdated between dataset verification dates; the dataset's last-verified date is displayed alongside every determination.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. Consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected where they apply.
